Oskar Schindler was born 1908 in Svitavy (German: Zwittau) - now located in Czech Republic. Oskar Schindler (28 April 1908 - 9 October 1974) was an ethnic German industrialist who saved the lives of more then 1000 jews during the 2nd World War. His story became world famous when Steven Spielberg filmed Schindlers story in the movie Schindler's List (Schindler's Ark). On the images seen the entrance to the former factory of Oskar Schindler in Brnenec (German: Bruennlitz) close to the city of Svitavy.
